MORE PALLETS, LESS TRUCKS, LESS CO2

June 14, 2016. RM2, the sustainable composite pallet provider recently implemented a new technology platform focused on their client side supply chain and logistic operations. The DAQS application is designed to improve vehicle utilization. It’s a user friendly web based tool that provides a transparent view of logistic processes as well as visually mapping out supply chain flows.

“It’s the balance of quality, cost and delivery that deliver a cost effective logistics process. DAQS improves communication for RM2 and its carrier partners, the tool is designed to improve logistics efficiency and allows us to make tactical business decisions that will result in less empty running miles,” said Vice President of RM2 Supply Chain, Jim Bedford. “The system’s architecture is such that we can even exchange data seamlessly with vehicles carrying RM2 pallets via existing delivery technology used by the carrier.”

DAQS was built from the ground up using the latest Microsoft Solution Framework the application is bespoke to RM2 and provides a close knit integration between core asset management systems and logistics purchase to pay processes. Bedford shares, “DAQS is far more than a Transport Management System, it’s the backbone of RM2’s continuous improvement program.”

RM2’s deployment of DAQS is a natural progression for the company, it aligns with the corporate ethos to evolve and be on the cutting edge of pallet provision, at the same time giving carrier partners a solution to save money and simultaneously driving sustainability and improving the quality of their supply chain.

“DAQS is already delivering us benefits, we are seeing carriers optimising their vehicles with LTL traffic from RM2 and filling available truck space more efficiently,” says Bedford. “In 2015, RM2 undertook to support the American Business Act on Climate Change, supporting the UN COP21 climate change objective. We actively seek to improve our environmental footprint and DAQS technology helps support our pledge. With DAQS we are already achieving fewer delivery miles, and on a number of lanes we are seeing a 30% improvement in truck fill. This is the direct equivalent of removing 30% of that traffic from the road.”
