Livonia, Michigan – December 18, 2017 – CHEP is proud to be recognized by Food Logistics magazine as one of the Top 100 technology suppliers for its continued advancement in food safety traceability.  Each year Food Logistics magazine recognizes companies that have created tech solutions to help food and beverage manufacturers operate more efficiently and effectively.  As food safety remains a hot-button issue, this list has become a directory to guide food and beverage producers toward innovative solutions.

“New developments and innovations in the software and technology sector are making sizeable impacts on the global food supply chain,” notes Lara L. Sowinski, Editorial Director for Food Logistics.  “The result is a greater visibility, improved regulatory compliance, enhanced shelf life for perishables, and the emergence of a more proactive and nimble food supply chain that benefits both the food industry and its logistics partners, as well as the end consumer.”

CHEP’s proprietary asset management system, CHEP-TRAC, includes several tools which enable customers to track assets throughout the supply chain and more easily comply with FSMA requirements.  Utilizing barcode and RFID technology, customers can more effectively control product quality with readily accessible reports that provide weight, temperature, order quantity and batch number data.

Asset ID tags, which can be captured via RFID-enabled handheld scanners or portals, allow users to capture critical data related to their HACCP plans and immediately load data into the web-based cloud system for other approved members of their team to access.  Manufacturers using CHEP-TRAC reduce their manual processes and opportunity for human error, ultimately ensuring product arrives to end users in the appropriate condition, and limiting the risk of food contamination.

CHEP has also introduced active tracking technology which leverages battery assisted devices for BAP RFID, Cellular and GPS. This allows users to access the RFID solution via the CHEP Containers mobile app for Android and iOS smartphones.  The revolutionary solution opens up a significantly lower cost RFID model and provides greater flexibility for companies looking to implement item level tracking.
